In the 1980s Northern Contemporary Dance School, then run by Nadine Senior, trained dancers in many kinds of dance, including contemporary and jazz. This programme looks at the changing world of dance in the late 1980s and catches the exuberance of young dancers at their Gala Night, starring the 1988 Cosmopolitan Dance Competition winner Martyn Hilton, London Contemporary Dance star Paul Liburd, and the Phoenix Dance Company.

The programme also features Phoenix Dance Company (now Phoenix Dance Theatre) performing ‘The Path‘, a piece choreographed by Edward Lynch.

If you look carefully you’ll also catch glimpses of Namron, Alison Beckett, Nadine Senior, Stephen Long, Shirley Jacobs, Douglas Thorpe, Neville Campbell, Donald Edwards, Steven Derrick and many more familiar faces.
