Position: Library & Digital Assistant
Hours: 37 hours per week
We are seeking to fill the post of Library & Digital Assistant, to provide assistance to the Librarian in the day-to-day operation of the School’s Library.
The post holder will work in the school’s busy library supporting our academic staff, Foundation, degree, MA students and visiting artists. In addition to assisting library users at the library counter and carrying out general library duties such as shelving, filing, stocktaking etc, you will be involved in the day to day operation of systems for transferring existing and future performance recordings to the digital platform and for inclusion in the library collections.
More generally, you will assist the Librarian in the development and timely operation of efficient counter systems, satisfying equipment bookings and ensuring students and staff receive a professional and friendly library service.
You will have a good level of education with a minimum of two A Levels (Grade A-E) and GCSE Maths and English (Grade A-C), with a good knowledge of Microsoft Office packages and proven competence utilising a range of software systems.
With proven administrative skills, including experience of customer service, you will also be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the technical requirements of maintaining equipment.
You will also need to demonstrate experience or a good understanding of the skills required for transferring recordings to a Digital format, and the scheduling, uploading and editing of performance, assessment and off-air footage on the library’s digital platform.
Full training on all library platforms/software will be provided.
